I’ve noticed that you connect your fashion shows with the support of a cause.
My first shows were not at big fashion events but mostly at special events for a cause. When I started my appearances at fashion events it felt natural to me to support a cause as well. I am a person that likes to contribute to the society. I can walk at the street and offer the last money I have in my pocket to a homeless person. One of the most selfless things I have done is that I ‘ve offered financial help to one of my employees in order to go abroad and find a better future for him and his family. Even though he had a great experience and he had a cooperation with Elie Saab in his resume, I put aside my personal interest and helped him leave.
What do you relax with?
Unfortunately I no longer have free time to relax. Of course by choice. There have been a lot of evenings that my friends invited me to go out with them but I didn’t have the time to join them. Everything I have accomplished is the result of hard work and sacrifices. Nevertheless when I do find time I like to hear some music, play the guitar and write. I write something like a biography but with a lot of philosophical messages and concerns. I also want to write a book with everyday stories I experience at my atelier with brides. Some of them are weird or funny situations. I thing it would be very interesting.
What are your future goals?
My aspirations are now turned abroad. I’ve made a big investment to get where I am today. From the atelier, my partners up to the fabrics and endless man-hours. I see the improvement I have over the years and now I believe that my work is ready to be promoted abroad. As I said before there is already a public from abroad. I’m thinking of starting from the Middle East where I could perhaps create a showroom as well.
Name 3 things you cannot live without?
Generally I do not stick to things. The only thing I wish for is to be healthy. All the rest come and go in life.
How would Stylianos describe himself?
The first thing that comes in my mind is that I can do anything for the interest of others and I have to admit that I try to change that because it doesn’t always turns out good for me. In my relationships, whether professional or personal I always show confidence from the start. The thing is whether the other person will maintain that. One other characteristic I have is that I find it difficult to reject others, especially my employees. This has as a result to show my displeasure in other ways and this makes me sometimes appear as a “difficult” man towards them. But this is something that I work on and now I’m trying to be more straightforward.
