The famous fashion house Gucci organized a very special campaign for the new Spring / Summer 2018 collection with paintings featuring images of classic artwork and characters dressed in the colorful designs of the Alessandro Michele‘s collection.
The illustrator of the campaign is from the famous Spanish artist Ignasi Montreal who entitled it “Utopian Fantasy”. In the video, he is in a fantastic Gucci gallery and he describes the colors which he has used for digital images. Many of the featured characters are inspired by famous painters artworks, such as John Everett Millais’s “Ophelia” painting, Hieronymus Bosch’s “The Garden of Earthly Delights” and Jan van Eyck’s “The Arnolfini Portrait”. At the end of the video, Ignasi gets into the river to save Ophelia from death, showing up by this way the Alessandro Michele’s golden dress. The video is scored by the well-known song “Cavatina” of Stanley Myers that perfectly matches with the environments’ aesthetic.

INSPIRED BY ‘THE GARDEN OF EARTHLY DELIGHTS’ (1490-1500) BY HIERONYMUS BOSCH HELD AT MUSEO DEL PRADO, MADRID, AND ‘THE ARNOLFINI PORTRAIT’ (1434) BY JAN VAN EYCK, NATIONAL GALLERY, LONDON.
