Now that we are in quarantine and we have to stay home all day, it is reasonable that we don’t follow the daily routine we had before. Most of us spend our day cooking, eating and watching movies on Netflix. To pass our time, we will prepare a rich breakfast, later we will master the art of baking cakes, and of course, there will be plenty of times that we will order a pizza or any other kind of junk food.
These days we hear many people saying that they can’t stop eating or have the desire to eat snacks. We are living a period of stress with all these happening around us, that the increase of our appetite makes perfect sense.
That is why it is important now more than ever, to maintain a healthy diet, not just to avoid gaining weight but also to be healthy. So how can we do that?
We have to eat more fruits and vegetables. Also, we choose whole wheat bread and pasta and prefer brown rice to white. We have to avoid the consumption of sweets, soft drinks, and alcohol. We can include healthier meals in our diet, especially now that we have the time to prepare them.
For example, banana and strawberry smoothies are very nutritious. Green tea also provides more energy, like oats, which is an excellent choice for breakfast. If we want something sweet, we can make pancakes with coconut flour and oats. To avoid eating snacks, we have to eat more often smaller meals during the day.
