What makes using coffee special is that you are able to see how a daily product that everyone has at home turns into something that gives uniqueness and personality to an illustration. Using coffee as a medium is unique and singular on its own but going beyond that, it is an interesting technique. The color scheme is really wide and it has the quality of giving warmth to an illustration. It is like if all the feelings around drinking a cup of coffee –comfort, ease, rest, quiet or peacefulness- were also implied in an illustration painted with it. But it is also special because it is a medium that everyone has at their disposal. A lot of techniques are really expensive so coffee becomes an interesting choice to people interested in art who want to practice with something similar to watercolors but a lot cheaper.
