What if the king of fashion may have now passed away, he will never cease to be one of the top fashion influences. A great contributor to fashion world.
After Coco Channel, he was the one who brought fashion to France, introduced pret-a-porter, and added his own touch to the term “modern”. I believe that there is no person from and beyond fashion industry, that hasn’t seen the first Yves Sent Laurent pret-a-porter garment of Yves Sent somewhere, which was presented in 1966, making him one of the most favourite fashion designers in the world. This dress was inspired by the modern painter Piet Mondrian.

Jardin Majorelle, Marocco
The famous designer, having a special love of Marrakech, designed his collections, and especially the haute couture ones, at his house there. It would only be natural that his house would be turned into a museum at his memory. The museum is located very close to Jardin Majorelle, the favourite place of Yves Sent Laurent, which in order not to become a hotel, he decided to buy it together with his partner Pierre Bergé and turn it into a wonderful home.
The new museum was designed exclusively by the French architects Olivier Marty and Karl Fournier of the KO studio. Of course the two architects could not miss the aesthetic approach of the artist from the building’s design. The entrance of the house is made of terracotta bricks, while the terrazzo on the outside of the building is designed to look like fabric. On the other hand, the interior resembles the lining of haute couture jacket, it is smooth, velvety and shiny. The museum opened its doors on October 19th and hosts around 1,000 objects of the designer. These are 50 pieces selected from the designer’s collection, pieces that have rarely been by the public. The Gallery with the portraits of Yves Saint Laurent and the legendary image of his first perfume campaign called Opium, the room which is dedicated to his muse, Catherine Deneuve, the Berber Museum with the wonderful jewels and accessories of the breed, the Lobby Theatre and the Library are just some of the parts of the museum that will leave you speechless. Besides, this is Yves Saint Laurent’s talent.

So, if you are in the “Red City”, do not miss a visit to Yves Saint Laurent Museum Marrakech. I am sure the designer’s aesthetic and spirit will be very interesting.
