Maria Grazia Chiuri says goodbye to the house of Valentino and she becomes Creative Director of the house of Dior.

For the first time a woman leads the house and a lot are expected from her. The house faces a small profit loss so it believes that is time for a woman to design for women.

Maria Grazia Chiuri was born in Rome, Italy, in 1964. After her graduation from the European Institute of Design in Rome, as a fashion designer, she worked at Fendi where she drafted the designer Pier Paolo Piccioli to work alongside her and they’ve created a powerful design duo for Fendi Accessories. In 1999 they’ve designed an accessories collection for the house of Valentino and a year later they were hired. After Valentino’s Garavani departure he gave the duo a vote of confidence by making them co-Creative Directors.

Maria Grazia Chiuri for the first time after 20 years of collaboration  with Pier Paolo Piccioli is going to work alone while Piccioli remains as Creative Director at the house of Valentino by himself.
